Evidence Management
Management and evaluation of court exhibits and evidence represents an essential element of criminal police work. In many cases these processes do not run homogeneously – and for example the evidence type, where it was found and where it is currently located often have to be entered several times. The same data is stored and separately processed in different systems, for example case processing systems (CPS), laboratory information management systems (LIMS), fingerprint systems and image databases. This redundancy not only causes delays and a significant increased workload on the staff; it also increases the likelihood of errors and misunderstandings, and in the worst case the results of investigations can not be used in court.
With rsEvid ®, an IT solution is now available which makes all of the necessary processes involved in the management and evaluation of evidence and court exhibits significantly simpler, easier to use, faster and more secure. The entire workflow from the initial securing of court exhibits and evidence via their forwarding to external analysis facilities, the documentation of the results and data queries, through to their evaluation is comprehensively supported, based on the ‘single entry, multiple use’ principle for information and data.
